PancakeSwap is a decentralized exchange (DEX) on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) that makes it easy to swap tokens, provide liquidity, and even try your hand at yield farming. Whether you’re a seasoned trader or just getting started, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know to use PancakeSwap effectively.
Trading on the PancakeSwap Exchange
- Visit the Exchange Page: Access the exchange by clicking here.
- Connect Your Wallet: Unlock your wallet by selecting “Connect Wallet” (you can also find the option in the top right corner). If you haven’t connected your wallet to PancakeSwap yet, refer to the guide here.
- Select the Token to Trade: Choose the token you want to trade from the dropdown menu in the upper section. Ensure you have enough of this token in your wallet, as your balance is displayed above the token selection.
- Choose the Token to Receive: In the lower section, select the token you wish to receive.
- Input the Trade Amount: You can either enter an amount in the upper section to indicate how many tokens you want to swap (the spending amount) or type an amount in the lower section for the number of tokens you wish to receive. The corresponding amount in the other section will be estimated automatically.
- Review the Details: Check all the trade details and click the “Swap” button. If this is your first time trading a specific token, you may need to click “Enable XXX (your token)” to approve the transaction first.
- Confirm the Swap: A window with additional details will pop up. Ensure everything is correct, and when you’re ready, click the “Confirm Swap” button. Your wallet will prompt you to confirm the action.
- Transaction Complete: You’re done! You can track your transaction on a blockchain explorer by clicking the link provided above.
Token Swaps
Token swaps on PancakeSwap make it easy to trade one token for another using automated liquidity pools on BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum, and Aptos. You can also interact with market makers when swapping tokens on BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum.
When you swap tokens on the PancakeSwap Exchange for BNB Smart Chain or Ethereum, you’ll pay trading fees that depend on which liquidity pool your trade uses. To see the details of your trade route, just click the magnifying glass icon in the “Route” section.
For Exchange V3 liquidity pools, you’ll find four different fee tiers: 0.01%, 0.05%, 0.25%, and 1%.
If you’re using StableSwap liquidity pools, the fee will vary based on the specific pool configuration, so be sure to check the “Fee” section for the details.
For Exchange V2 liquidity pools, there’s a flat 0.25% trading fee. Here’s how that breaks down:
- 0.17% goes back to Liquidity Pools as a reward for liquidity providers.
- 0.0225% supports the PancakeSwap Treasury.
- 0.0575% is used for CAKE buyback and burn.
Keep in mind that on Aptos, only PancakeSwap Exchange V2 is available, so all token swaps will carry that same 0.25% trading fee with the breakdown mentioned above.
